Positive COVID-19 Test for a New York Mets Player

According to multiple sources, a New York Mets player as well as a staffer have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. The Mets were playing the Miami Marlins on Thursday and their game was postponed after the positive test.

The Mets were also set to host the New York Yankees for a series and so far their game tonight has been cancelled. Most of the team is traveling from Miami back to New York, besides the two that have tested positive and those identified through contact tracing.

The player who tested positive has not been identified yet. I will keep you updated if the name of the player who tested positive is revealed and if there are more positive tests for either team.

Here is the list of MLB players who have tested positive for coronavirus to date.

UPDATE - The Mets placed infielder  Andres Gimenez and catcher Tomas Nido on the injured list, so it is assumed that one of those players was the positive test.
